Paying it Forward
May is mental health awareness month and we are hosting a fundraiser to show support for those coping with mental illness. We are calling it, Paying it Forward! What does it mean to Pay it Forward? The online dictionary says, Pay it forward is an expression for when the recipient of an act of kindness does something kind for someone else rather than simply accepting or repaying the original good deed.
Mom and I want to inspire generosity. Giving back is very important to us. We curated a gift box to purchase, and the profits will go back into the community. We serve and know people close to us with mental illness. You could say this is close to our hearts. Mom and I both got on board and purchased a PIF Box and mailed it to someone that paid it forward in our lives.
Did you know that 1 in 5 Americas are living with a mental health illness? Have you asked yourself how you can participate? We are going to share some ways.
- Educate yourself on mental health and mental wellness.
- Focus on self-care
- Share your story with others.
- Address any stigmas you may have
- Ask for help - see a therapist
Some types of mental illness are anxiety, eating disorders, impulse, personality, post-traumatic, etc.
We hope others will give extra resources to others in need of hygiene products, clothes, food, or a ride to eat or pick up supplies. Many don't have family or friends as a support system. If you have a friend or family member in a care facility, check in on them. Talk with others who have worked in this field to know what to look for, ask questions.
Order the Paying it Forward Gift Box today! The profits will go back into the community.
